Bachelor In Audiology and Speech Language Pathology or BASLP

Bachelor In Audiology and Speech Language Pathology is four year graduate programe. Course includes Speech pathology, Language pathology and Audiology. The allied subjects are linguistics, Electronics, Acoustics, Psychology and Statistics. The basic medical subjects that prepare the foundation in the clinical competence are Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and the specialized medical subjects are Otolaryngology, Neurology, and Pediatrics. Bachelors in Audiology & Speech language pathology (BASLP) professionals also conduct camps, outreach programs & many awareness programs to enrich the society with hazards of noise pollution, hearing disorders & their possible management issues. 

Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) Professionals are concerned with evaluation, treatment and research in human communication and its disorders. Speech-language pathologists assess and treat persons of all ages with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. They may also work with people who have oral motor problems that cause eating and swallowing difficulties. They use special instruments, as well as written and oral tests, to determine the nature and extent of impairment, and to record and analyze speech irregularities. For individuals with little or no speech, speech-language pathologists select augmentative & alternative communication systems, including automated devices and sign language, and teach their use for better communication.

Audiologists specialize in prevention, identification, assessment, and rehabilitation of hearing disorders. They use a variety of testing devices to measure aspects of an individual’s hearing sensitivity. When Hearing Loss exists, they determine the nature and extent of the hearing loss and recommend appropriate treatment, including hearing aids or other assistive devices. Audiologists also test noise levels in workplaces, industries and conduct hearing conservation programs & provide ear protection devices.

Duration of the Programme

The duration of the BASLP Programme shall extend over six Semesters of course work (three academic years) plus two Semesters (one academic year) of internship. Each semester shall consist of 16 weeks of study (excluding the time spent for the conduct of the final examination of each semester).

Bachelor In Audiology And Speech Language Pathology Eligibility

  • Admission to BASLP (Bachelor of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology) is open to candidates who have passed the 2-year Pre-University examination conducted by the Pre-University Board of the State of Karnataka or any other examination (10+2) considered as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore.
  • Candidates who have obtained a minimum of 50% (45% in the case of SC/ST candidates) in the PCMB group or combinations thereof, in their PUC or qualifying examination are eligible for admission.
  • Only those applicants who have studied at least three subjects from among Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics shall be eligible for admission.
  • Only those candidates who have not completed 21 years, as on 1st July of the academic year in which admission is sought, are eligible for admission.

Mode of Selection

An All India Entrance Examination will be conducted for admission to the B.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) course. All the students, except those applying under the foreign quota, will have to write the entrance examination in any 3 of the 4 subjects i.e., Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology; which is based on CBSE syllabus of 11th and 12th standard. Admission will be made on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance examination and in accordance with AIISH regulations governing the conduct of entrance examination. For foreign candidates the selection is made on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination, subject to meeting eligibility requirements.

I am a student who has written the 12 cbse board exam.I have written the all india examination exam too but i am qualified with 59 marks.I have passed my CBSE board exam too.I wanted to know if i will be able to get to do this course since i want to this course with my whole heart.I always wanted to do this course but I dont know whether am eligible.Please let me know if I am.
