Exam details

Veterinary Council of India invites applications for entrance examination for filling up 15% of total number of seats to be filled on merit in each Govt Veterinary College in India (except from Jammu & Kashmir State) from Indian Nationals for admission to 1st year of B.V.Sc & A.H. course for academic session 2014 - 2015

Duration : The duration of B.V.Sc & A.H.Sc & A.H. degree course is 5 years including a compulsory rotating internship of six months.

Eligibility crieteria

A candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years of study the last two years of study with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Education Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 (years) educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.

The Intermediate Science examination in science from a recognized University/ Board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (which shall include a practical test in these subjects) and English.

To be eligible for entrance examination, candidate must have passed any of the qualifying examinations as enumerated above. Further, he/she should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for General Category in aggregate in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English at 10+2 /Intermediate Science Examination. Provided also that to be eligible for entrance examination the candidate must have passed the aforesaid subjects individually. For the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/the Scheduled Tribes or other special category (Other Backward Classes) of students as specified by the Government from time to time, marks required for admission shall be 10% less than that prescribed for General Category.

A candidate who is taking the qualifying examination prior to the Entrance Examination, or whose result is awaited, may also apply and take the examination but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the B.V.Sc. & A.H. programme, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required percentage of marks as per the Minimum Standard of Veterinary Education - Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2009 on or before 30th June, 2013 and submit the documentary proof during counseling, if selected.

Duration of Course : The duration of B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course is spread over five complete academic years including a compulsory rotating internship of six months.

Age : The candidate has attained or will attain the age of Seventeen (17) years as on 31st December, 2014. Candidates attaining seventeen years on 1st of January, 2014 or later will not be eligible to appear at the AIPVT.

Exam pattern

The All India Pre Veterinary Test is of 3 hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology as in that of the class 11th and 12th syllabus under the science stream of University or state or central board of Examination. 

The question Pattern will be :

Physics  No of Questions : 60

Chemistry  No of Questions : 60

Biology  No of Questions : 80

How to apply

Applications can be obtained on Offline and Online Mode of Sale of Information Bulletin and Application Form :

The Information Bulletin and Application Form can be obtained by post on payment of Rs. 1250/- for General Category and Rs. 650/- for SC/STcategory (including examination fee, handling and other charges) through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "Veterinary Council of India- Examination Fund" payable at New Delhi on any Scheduled Bank from the office of/ Controller of Examination, Veterinary Council of India, 'A'Wing, 2nd Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Camrf Place, New Delhi-110066. While requesting Information Bulletin and Application Form, the candidates should send: 

Demand Draft (Cash/Money Order/Indian Postal Order/Cheque or any other form of payment will NOT be accepted. Demand Draft issued prior to the date of advertisement will not be accepted). 

Two plain paper slips with complete address (in CAPITAL LETTERS) with PIN-code.

The Information Bulletin and Application Form can also be obtained by hand from the below mentioned places on payment of Rs. 1200/- for General Category and Rs. 600/- for SC/ST category through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "Veterinary Council of India" payable at New Delhi on any Scheduled Bank.

Online Submission : 

Online submission of application may be made by accessing Council website www.vci-india.in from 9.1.2012 (10.00 A.M) to 15.2.2012 (5.00 PM). Candidates are required to take a print of the Online application after successful submission of data. The printout of the computer generated application, complete in all respect as applicable for Offline submission should be sent to the Controller of Examination, Veterinary Council of India, 'A' Wing, 2nd Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi -110066 by speed Post / Registered Post only.

Fee of Rs.1200/- for General/OBC Category Candidates and Rs.600/- for the SC/ST Category candidates may be remitted through a Demand Draft in favour of the "Veterinary Council of India - Examination Fund, payable at New Delhi" drawn on any Scheduled Bank.

Note : The Council shall not be responsible for any delay, or non-receipt of Information Bulletin and Application Form, due to postal lapses or wrong/incomplete address informed by the candidates.

Last date of submission of application form is : 18th February, 2014, 05.00 p.m.
Last date of submission of application form from the remote areas ( Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Lahaul and Spiti Distt and Pangi sub division of Chamba Distt of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep ) is 05th March, 2014.
Date of exam : 10th May, 2014, Saturday, 02.00 p.m. to 05.00 p.m.
Exam centers

AIPVT Examination 2014 will be held at the cities listed below, provided there are sufficient number of candidates for each centre.

Candidates should, therfore, give their choices for two centers, in order of preference in their application form of AIPVT 2014.

Candidates must note that the centre of AIPVT 2014 examination once opted by a candidate shall not be changed and any request for such a change will not be entertained under any circumstances.

Admission procedure

A list of successful candidates in order of merit based on the score obtained in the entrance examination shall be prepared. The Merit List shall be equal to the number of seats available for allotment in B.V.Sc. & A.H. course under 15% quota. There shall also be a Waiting List of candidates equal to 125% of candidates in the Merit List.

In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the entrance examination, the inter - se -merit of such candidates shall be determined in order of preference as follows :

  1. Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology in the entrance examination.
  2. Candidates obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in the entrance examination.
  3. Candidates obtaining higher marks in Physics in the entrance examination.
  4. Candidates older in age to be preferred.
